(Day 2) General Debate - General Assembly: Plenary meeting, 81st session.



The debate of the 81st session opens on Tuesday, 22 September, continues through Saturday, 26 September, and concludes on Monday, 28 September 2026.


World leaders gather to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, "Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all".

Heads of State and Government and ministers explore solutions to intertwined global challenges to advance peace, security, and sustainable development.

The General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly is the opportunity for Heads of State and Government to come together at the UN Headquarters and discuss world issues.

The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, introduces the annual report (A/81/1) on the activities of the Organization at the opening of the general debate.
