(Day 2) General Debate - General Assembly: 6th and 7th plenary meeting, 80th session.



The Debate of the 80th session will open on Tuesday, 23 September, continue through Saturday, 27 September, and conclude on Monday, 29 September 2025. World leaders will discuss global issues.


World leaders will gather to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, "Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights".

Heads of State and Government and ministers will explore solutions to intertwined global challenges to advance peace, security, and sustainable development.

The General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly is the opportunity for Heads of State and Government to come together at the UN Headquarters and discuss world issues.

The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, will introduce the annual report (A/80/1) on the activities of the Organization at the opening of the general debate.

 The United Nations General Assembly has  proclaimed 25 April as International Delegate’s Day . In order to  raise awareness of the role of the representatives and delegates of the Member States to the United Nations , With the adoption of resolution 73/286 , the General Assembly invite us to recognize the crucial role of the delegates in fulfilling the main goals of the United Nations . Part of the delegates’ tasks is to live up to these goals, whether it is maintaining international peace , encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms , or promoting effective multilateralism .
