Security Disregarded is Development Denied.

An opening event of the UN CommonConnections Week on Security Sector Reform & Governance.

Rare opportunity to experience renowned economist and Oxford professor Sir Paul Collier, author of "The Bottom Billion" and "Left Behind: A New Economics of Neglected Places". Collier will focus on what's needed to bolster national institutions vital to people's security.

Joining the discussion will be Mayke Kaag, distinguished professor of the Anthropology of Politics and Governance in Africa and The Anthropology of Islam in Africa and its Diaspora at Leiden University and University of Amsterdam. A critical examination of pathways towards - often local - genuine security and institutional resilience!

Remarks by ASG OROLSI Alexandre Zouev and Katy Thompson, Co-Director, Governance, Rule of Law and Peacebuilding Hub, UNDP.

An event supported by the Group of Friends on SSR.
